Towards Neuronal Cell Identity. Cell morphology and functional constraints

Duration: 2 h

How neurons are different? What can define the ground state of the neuron? What are structural constraints of the neuronal function? Although it is clear that neuronal cell types can be defined molecularly, an understanding of the CNS cannot be reached without comprehensive understanding of the circuits in which they are embedded, their connectivity, and their activity patterns in response to appropriate external stimuli. The short theoretical session tries to give basic understanding of current knowledge in defining neuronal cell identity and to give some practical applications for structural cell identity definition.
