In the simplest mathematical settings, which include binomial and trinomial tree models, we will introduce the notion of a financial market and discuss the central concepts of mathematical finance, such as arbitrage, completeness, and incompleteness. We will also consider the problems of pricing, hedging, and
superhedging as well as Merton's portfolio optimization problem.
